Goals of the Prison Ministry

To provide Mass and other religious services for prisoners
To provide religious instruction to prisoners, especially through the RCIA program
To recruit and train volunteers who would visit with prisoners before and after Mass and/or help in other ways, i.e. as a pen-pal
To regularly visit prisoners on X-Row and other locked-down areas
To provide religious materials such as the Malta Bible, rosaries, books, etc. for prisoners
To inform the public and legislators of relevant needed reforms in laws and practices
To improve the public perception of people who are imprisoned
To support halfway houses and foster employment opportunities for prisoners upon release
